LongBoards Ko'olina Beach Club

A wonderful friend of mine treated me to breakfast at LongBoards Ko'olina Beach Club. It's a rather cute place that overlooks the lagoon and horizon. As we walked in, there were tourists on the grassy area doing exercises as their instructor was teaching them breathing techniques while meditating. When I looked up, there were more tourists having their morning joe and breakfast looking out at the lagoon and enjoying the sunshine. Since the front tables were taken...we chose to sit near the rear of the beach club.

Likelike Drive Inn

After visiting my Mom and her new husband Miles, my husband and I decided to take our daughter and grandbaby to have dinner at Likelike Drive Inn.  You know what? I heard that Likelike Drive Inn is the BEST place to be when craving local food. The last time I ate here was in the early 90's, so I was hoping it improved from the last time I've been there. Apparently Not!!! From the moment we walked in, the crowd that was already seated didn't look happy. However, our server was so friendly as she seated us and handed us our menus.

Breakfast at Zippy's

It was one of those mornings where my husband and I woke up at the same time. This occurs at least once every blue moon. We got up and got dressed as if we were reading each others mind. As we walked downstairs getting ready to make coffee, I looked at him and said, "Why don't we go out for breakfast? It's my treat." He was excited and we jumped in our car. So, I took him to one of our local favorites; Zippy's Restaurant.

Kunio Japanese Restaurant

The choice of restaurant this week was chosen by Mac and Ginny. Therefore, we agreed to meet at Kunio Japanese Restaurant in Waikele. Since there were five of us, they joined three little tables to accommodate six people. Honestly, if you moved the two chairs in the middle, it would’ve sat four people comfortably. The place is small and the tables are close. So, I sat between Vae and my son, Wes and right across from Ginny and Mac. Oh my...we were so close I swear I could hear their heartbeats.

Buca Di Beppo

I anticipated today’s excursion of having lunch at Buca Di Beppo. My fellow critics have never been there so my heart was racing even faster because I chose the restaurant. My mind pondered with questions, such as: What if it’s not worth the money? What if the service is bad? What if we don’t like the food? On and on my mind imagined almost everything that could’ve went wrong. I’m so relieved that my body didn’t pay any attention to my mind and got me dressed and ready to go. J

New Eagle Cafe

My husband Vae is on vacation, so we both decided to run away from home early this morning to do some errands and shop. Well since we had an early start--surprisingly we were done by lunch time. So while driving on Nimitz Highway, we decided to eat at the New Eagle CafĂ©. We’ve always passed it and never dined there—so curiosity got the best of us.

Chili's

Today was a special day because I haven't seen my friend Rachel in over two years. This reunion was much needed to catch up on all that has happened in our lives during this absence. So, I figured why not break bread together like we use to when we worked at Aloha Airlines? I knew a lot has changed so we just wanted to reminisce about the past and talk about future plans. I was especially excited because I would finally get to meet Rachel’s new addition to her family; her daughter, Erin. Although I was there for the baby shower, I never got to see the baby since she was born. Now she’s two and a half years old and it’s a reminder of time passed.

Tsukiji Fish Market And Restaurant

My brother Mac and his wife Ginny took my husband, our youngest son, and I to lunch at Tsukiji. It was the first time for my family to dine there so we didn't know what to expect. As we walked in, I noticed a beautiful bar area that was stocked with a variety of liquors. Trust me, I was tempted to have a shot of something due to the colorful bottles; but, I had to stay focused.
